Breast cancer being one of the leading concerns among women , in both developing and developed countries, prevention or identification of the disease at an early stage is of paramount importance in saving as well as improving the quality of life. The population of Asian and middle eastern is large, in the population we shall empower women mostly in the fight against breast cancer because it is more common in women than men.
Methods of decreasing cancer screening include educating the women on importance of early screening, influence by peer, use of scientific presentation and statistics and lastly public testimony from people who have undergone screening. Screening can be defined as looking for early signs of a particular disease in people who do not have any symptoms. People in Asian and Middle East fell short of cancer screening compliance because of several reasons. One of the many reasons is lack of knowledge o the screening process.
Some of the of those people are in the dark about screening methods, due to lack of education on the subject matter.Others lack the financial abilities to go for screening services. Others hold to the tradition facts and do not uphold or even respect technological change hence they refuse to go for testing. Other people are anxious and scared to know their fate and they fail to comply. Others like disabled lack self confidence, fear the attitude of the medical personnel and even how the method is going to fit their disability problem.
The special population of people include women above 40 years of age, the disabled, men and young women of above 20 years of age. Objectives of the project include. To increase or rather awareness about the disease.This is talking about breast cancer, what it is, how it is caused and many other facts.
Another objectives is it educate women on the importance of early detection. This is detection of breast cancer of it merit. Encouraging as many women as possible to be tested’ is another giant. This is done through role modeling and woe men in that particular society and many other methods. Teaching about healthy lifestyles which decrease ones chances of getting breast cancer. Some of the bad lifestyles which would facilitate breast cancer of other related diseases such as diabetes include smoking, excessive drinking and lack of exercise.
Another objective is to educate women on the causes of breast cancer and also giving them prevention strategies. Another objective of the project is to reach out to the disabled women in the society as well as the male. An additional objective is setting and designing a community based non randomized educational intervention study carried out over a one year duration. Lowering cost of cancer screening and to teach women on breast self examination method (BSE) which helps women to know the structure and composition of their normal breast thereby enhancing their sensitivity to any abnormality at the earnest stage.
Lastly on the objectives, to have an acceptable and effective breast health awareness project of the people.This plan works through the following implementation of the objectives listed. To enhance public allowances of the disease various method should be used. First is through campaigns held through the year in the area. During this campaigners trained personnel should inform the public on the disease and educate them of testing, prevention and cure. The second method of imputing awareness is through media.
This can be both audio or visual that is the radio or television. This is done through advertising on the disease and encouraging the public to go for screening. Voluntary teaching of the public who is willing to learn about the disease is another method. This teaching can also be done in schools during breaks.
This enable all the people of all ages are aware of the disease. Setting apart a month or even 4 week to fight cancer is another brilliant method of implementing awareness, we should use in the plan.Giving of brochures and other educational materials during road shows and other occasions as well as placing posters on public and other occasions as well as placing posters on public areas or even post for people to see. Last but not least encouraging medical personnel in the area to advise, listen to people’s questions on breast cancer and examination and answer them correctly. To encourage many women to go for testing we looked at strategies such as lowering the cost of cancer screening and some times screening individuals for free.
Another method is encouraging women above 40 years to go to mammography annually. On prevention measures, the best method is to speak to the public about their day-to-day lifestyles. Factor such as smoking, poor diet and insufficient physical activities should be discouraged as they cause cancer and other related illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and other chronic life-threatening conditions. The most important weapon in encouraging early detention of cancer through testing is that it significantly increase the chances of cure and normal survival.
Encouragement form individual testimonies also encourage other women and men to take the test and live positively in life. Lastly but not least teaching women of the home based test of breast cancer. This is through touch and also looking at symptoms such as discharge occurring in one side of the nipple, without squeezing. Professional conferences should also be held.
Journeys and magazines should be written to enlighten people on breast cancer. Advocate for increased availability of cancer screening a diagnostic services e. g. the laws and regulations, opening business, to offer cancer screening.To evaluate the effectiveness of the project a good out come or good results should show.
If the number of people going for breast cancer testing has increased. For example women above 20 years go for testing monthly while those above 40 years go for mammography annually. If statistics show that the deaths caused by breast cancer have decreased from the time we began implementation of the plan in the area then the plan is marked effective. Another point is the availability and use of cancer screening and detection services to the people.More disabled personality turning up for test and commenting on the doctors change of altitude positively towards them.
If a survey condition for example using questioners or even oral means to question them on breast cancer, signs and symptoms, screening methods and so on . If half of the population can answer then it shows that the project has successfully created awareness on the disease. Effective in terms of the optimal cost this project should use less capital and gain. This is to say we need donations from well wishers and other organizations to fund the project some time.
