California Industrial & Technology Education Association (CITEA) is an educational institution located in California. The said institution is known as provider of industrial technology education as well vocational education. Six different departments comprise CITEA.
These are Construction/Wood Shop department, Manufacturing/Metal Shop, Graphic Arts, Transportation/Auto Shop, Drafting/Engineering and Electronics. These different departments are the main focus of the institution (CITEA, 2007). CITEA is also connected to California Industrial & Technology Education Association Foundation CITEAF.The two institutions are the main institution in California that provides quality education on industrial technology and vocational education. CITEAF main purpose is to guide all the plans that will be used in making their mission possible (CITEA, 2007).
Because California has many industries and these industries need people who can work for their company that will help in making the success of the company. Thus the purpose CITEA is to produce quality and qualified industrial technologists by providing quality industrial technology and vocational education (Best, 2006).Part of the mission of CITEA is to prepare its students in becoming future professionals that will they use when dealing on the problem of their chosen industry. In order for the mission of CITEA to be in reality in providing quality industrial technology education and vocational education, CITEA wants to produce a power house that will give the quality education and proper training on their students. Today, CITEA seeks for the most qualified teacher that will increase the quality and credibility of the said institution.
As part of their mission in making their faculty force to be quality educators, some programs were implemented to increase the motivation to give quality education of each teacher in CITEA. Some of their program is the distribution of awards to those teachers who has done the best in the academics. Some of the awards are the Teacher of the Year, Industry Person of the Year, Person of the Year, Legislator of the Year, Administrator of the Year, The CITEA Distinguished Service Award. In this way, the faculty of CITEA will work hard so that they will have the chance to be nominated and receive the award.As mentioned the mission and purpose of CITEA, the said institution will post requirements that must be met by those aspiring applicants.
For those applicants to be admitted in CITEA, they must posses the characteristics that they will use and also the professional quality that they will inculcate to their students. Some of the basic characteristics are creative problem-solving skills, ability to convey concepts with quick sketches, good verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of how things work.Also applicants must have basic knowledge on design management. As the name implies, design management refers to the handling of design-relevant decisions in a given company that will help in the success of the company. The personality of the client CITE does not only employs those applicants as teacher who met the requirements set by CITE, they will also assessed their performance as teacher. This will maintain the quality of their teaching methods and procedures.
The assessment also will develop further for the improvement of the institution to meet the needs in producing quality and professional-oriented students.
