Tunku Abdul Rahman was born in a royal family in Kedah on the 8th of February 1903. Tunku studied at the St. Catherine's College, Cambridge University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in law and history in 1925. A direct experience with racial discrimination with the college's management was said to have intensified his passion in fighting for equality and ignited his aspiration in making his native soil an independent state, free from British colonialism. Tunku Abdul Rahman is the founding father of the independent Malaysia.

Also known as Bapa Kemerdekaan, Tunku Abdul Rahman became the first prime minister of the country after Sarawak and Sabah merged to form Malaysia in 1963. His leadership flair unfolded in England when he established the Kesatuan Melayu Great Britain and became its secretary. When he returned from England, Tunku was elected as the chairman of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). Among the significant events led by Tunku was the alliance of UMNO and the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) in 1952 and the Malayan Indian Congress (MIC) who joined the Alliance in 1955.Tunku Abdul Rahman took a step ahead and led a delegation from the Alliance to London for negotiations with the British Government on the future establishment of the Federation. On the 31st August 1957, Malaya gained independence and Tunku Abdul Rahman became the first prime minister.

Tunku Abdul Rahman was an extroversion and conscientiousness person. Tunku was comfortable with meeting and talking to everyone and brought all the races together to gain independence. Tunku was also sociable and self confident as he did establish the Kesatuan Melayu Great Britain and was the president of UMNO.Tunku was a responsible and dependable man.

Tunku knew many people were hoping to break away from the grip of the British ruling and thirsted for independence. He focused on the goal of attaining independence and worked in a purposeful way to achieve it. In my opinion, Tunku Abdul Rahman followed the selling style on the Hersey and Blanchard’s situational theory. He provided his followers and the people who believed in him a direction such as the direction in getting independence but he did not make the decisions all on his own.He fought to restore democracy to this land till his last breath.

Tunku Abdul Rahman was also a people’s leader. He was definitely an ethical leader as he didn’t cheat or create war and hurt people. He gained independence using the right way which is communication and there was no violence involved. Everyone loved him for his down to earth character and being the true character to one Malaysia.

He was a man of all people. Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi) Mata Amritanandamayi is one of the most respected and loved spiritual leaders in India and all over the world.Amritanandamayi Devi was born Sudhamani on 27th September 1953, in the small fishing village of Parayakadavu, Kerala, India. When Amma was born, she didn’t come into this world crying instead she had a smile and serene glow on her face. At the age of 5, Amma would spend much of her time singing devotional prayers and engrossed in deep meditation when other children her age would engage themselves in playing. Amma was also deeply attached to her fellow human beings.

When she sees the suffering of others, she was affected and goes out of the way to alleviate their pain.He parents disliked her generosity and munificent nature and scolded her often for sharing food with the people of untouchable class and giving away the belongings of the household. At the age of 14, Amma began to instinctively embrace people to comfort them in their sorrow. It was not acceptable for a young girl to even touch others, especially men.

However, despite the unpleasant reactions by her parents, Amma continued. Regarding her embracing of others, Amma has said, “I don’t see if it is a man or a woman. I don’t see anyone different from my own self.A continuous stream of love flows from me to all of creation. This is my inborn nature.

The duty of a doctor is to treat patients. In the same way, my duty is to console those who are suffering. ” For the past 35 years, Amma has been working relentlessly towards easing the sufferings in this world. Her soothing words, calm voice and calm and serene personality easily makes one forget all miseries in life. On top of that, Amma stresses the importance of meditation, conducting actions such as karma yoga, selfless service and cultivating divine qualities such as compassion, patience, forgiveness, self control, etc.

Amma was selected as one of the presidents of the Assembly of Global Religions which was held in Chicago in 1993. Apart from that, Hinduism Today an international journal on Indian culture honoured Amma by giving her the ‘Hindu Renaissance Award’. Amma is also known as the ‘hugging saint’. She offers affectionate hugs to people who come to meet her.

She has hugged over 50,000 people in a day and at times, even sitting for more than 20 hours continuously hugging people. In the past 20 years, it is believed that she has hugged at least 29 million people and the numbers are still growing.Amma is also known for her world-wide charitable mission such as building 100000 homes for the homeless, free medical care, environmental protection group, free food and clothing for the poor and many more. She not only extends her hand to the people in her own country but she travels around the world sharing her love and helping the people in need. The two dominant personality aspects that shine in Amma are her agreeableness and emotional stability.

She is a very warm, considerate and warm natured person. She has an electrifying effect on people who seek her embraces. Amma gets along with everyone.Anyone who seeks solace in her is always returned with compassion, love and blissfulness. Amma is also a very emotionally stable person as she is always calm due to the amount of time she spends in meditation.

Furthermore, Amma is able to handle criticism well. In my experience with Amma, I have personally witnessed how a man who came to her for hug criticised her for not being able to speak the Tamil language. All she had to offer him was a smile and told her followers leave him alone and not take any action against him. One contingency theory that has been practiced by Amma is the Hersey and Blanchard’s situational theory.

Amma practices the participating (S3) which is a style that focuses on supporting the growth and improvement of others by guiding skill development and acting as a resource for advice and information. Amma has educational, medical, religious and other trust set up. These divisions are carried out efficiently by some people chosen by Amma and any important decision is made by Amma to ensure everything runs smoothly. Amma is definitely an ethical leader as she includes not only universal spirituality but ethical values as well in her teachings.Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States from March 1861 till April 1865.

Most historians consider Abraham Lincoln as one of the greatest president’s of America. Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky. He had very little formal education and self studied most of the time. Abraham Lincoln worked in his father’s farm and at the same time digested all the literature he could in his spare time. Lincoln’ self taught education probably thought him more than what he would have received in school.

Both his parents believed that the slave trade was despicable. Hence, Lincoln went through the hard path to abolish slavery in the entire country. This led him in becoming the United States of America’s most impressive, well remembered and greatest presidents of all time. Abraham Lincoln’s early career started in the military when he was enlisted to fight in the Black Hawk War. There, he was elected to be the head of a company of volunteers. His service for them only lasted for 30 days before he signed on as a private in the mounted Rangers.

Lincoln then went on to work in different areas and ran for the state legislature. Unfortunately he lost in 1832. He took up law and was admitted to bar in 1836. Lincoln served as a US diplomat (1847-49). He was selected as the state legislature in 1854 but resigned to run for the US Senate.

He gave his famous "house divided" speech after being nominated. The Lincoln-Douglas Debate was the debate where Lincoln and Douglas disagree over the morality of slavery. Lincoln did not believe that slavery should be stretched any further but Douglas argued for popular sovereignty. Here, Lincoln lost to Douglas. The main episode of Lincoln’s presidency was the Civil War that lasted from 1861 to 1865. Lincoln strongly believed in the importance of not only defeating the confederation but eventually reuniting North and South.

In the end, slavery was forever ended. The two dominant personalities that stood out in Abraham Lincoln were his conscientiousness and openness to experience. He was a very responsible, considerate and goal oriented man. All along even before he became a president, he was against slavery and was determined to abolish slavery forever. He had a drive that knew no limits thus succeeding in his goal to abolish slavery. Besides that, he was a man who was open to experience.

He was open to the ethnic and individual variety. He was always learning from his mistakes, broadening his knowledge and improving himself. I believe Abraham Lincoln followed the supportive leadership in the Path-Goal Contingency Theory. He was an open and approachable man who treated everyone as equal and Lincoln was definitely a people oriented leader. Abraham Lincoln was an ethical leader because he fought for the freedom of slaves and that all men are equal.Referenceshttp://americanhistory.about.com/od/abrahamlincoln/p/plincoln.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mata_Amritanandamayihttp://www.iloveindia.com/spirituality/gurus/mata-amritanandmayi.htmlhttp://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/mata-amritanandamayi-80.phphttp://www.abrahamlincolnsclassroom.org/Library/newsletter.asp?ID=107&CRLI=155http://www.filatelic.com/00-05/Tunku.html
