American Airlines started from the incorporation of the Aviation Company’s subsidiaries under the name of American Airways in 1930 (American Airlines History). The initial purpose for the existence of the airline industry prior to this is the transportation of mails from one place to another (American Airlines History). However, the importance and commercial viability of the airplanes has resulted to the commercialization of the said transportation and allowed for use by people who wished to travel. As early as 1959, AA has already provided a jet service using Boeing 707 from one coast to another.

The company subsequently launched other forms of technology that enhanced the experience of passengers in traveling (American Airlines History). However, the deregulation after 1978 has resulted in an increased level of competition for the company in terms of low-cost carriers such as the Southwest Airlines (Ganslen 85). The competition resulted to the bankruptcy of the airline and the impact of the 9/11 attacks has aggravated the circumstances for the company despite its size and financial stability before the competition and the terrorism conflicts (Ganslen 85).In the earlier parts of the year, there have been several changes launched by AA in relation to its strategy of serving its customers through greater accessibility and convenience.

These are done through the use of technology and other forms of media. Among these programs are the broadcasting of inflight content and the “Remember Me” that brings the services of the company closer to its clients and eases the common procedures (American Airlines History).AA, together with other members from the Air Transport Association, has forwarded their proposal to the Department of Transportation (Customer Commitment). This contains the plans intended for addressing the concerns of the customer as AA continuously achieves for better ways to serve its clients. Moreover, the environment within the company is also created in such a way that it allows for diversity among the people (Our Employees). As they claim, the company is manned by professionals that share the same organizational culture and respect for one another (Our People).

Choosing American Airlines would rest on the fact that it is an established institution of the airline industry. Its strength has allowed it to grow into becoming the giants of the industry and there is always the potential for it to constantly seek for better conditions for its stakeholders and its passengers.Works CitedAmerican Airlines History.
