One of the most important principles is to always plan ahead and never over book your schedule. This is the most important for a variety of reasons. Time management helps you to make sure you’re taking the time out to successfully complete your work and fulfill any commitments made to others. It’s important to be successful and stay true to your commitments because it shows you’re professional and dependable.

The second important principle to follow is to always use your own work.No one likes not getting credit for their idea and using someone else work or ideas is just cheating you out of knowledge. Plagiarism in any form is also very unprofessional and greatly frowned upon. Principle number three is never commit to something that you already doubt you will be able to accomplish.

Agreeing to anything without meaning it is very detrimental to your reputation. People understand that life happens, but it’s in good character to also follow through with anything agreed upon or promised. If you cannot complete the task asked of you how can anyone take you seriously? The forth principle has to do with your conduct towards people. It’s always important to treat others how you want to be treated. You must remember when providing your opinion on paper, online, or in person to be clear and never offensive.

It’s always ok to prove your point but you never want to intentionally offend a co-worker or fellow student. Respect is a key element needed in any environment. Remember to use an emotionally stable mind and good ethics when interacting with anyone. The fifth principle is always follow instructions. It’s very important you understand your assignments: how to provide and present the information properly, only use the resources allowed, and use the correct format required by your superior (teacher/boss) but most of all pay attention to detail.

This brings us to our sixth principle presentation. From the way you present your work to yourself all should be at its best. People often make opinions on their first feeling about the way a person presents themselves. It’s important you show yourself as a professional.A professional would not show up to work in pajamas or workout clothes (unless you work at a gym of some sort), a professional should also want their work to be displayed with their best efforts put forward. The seventh principle is also very important to success.

You should always be self-aware and accept responsibility for anything you do good or bad. The only person in charge of your success or failure is you alone. No one can make you study and no one can make you fail, as an independent adult it’s your choice and responsibility to make the correct and best choice for your future. For example friends don’t make you party all night you are the one who decides to stay out with them as opposed to completing the last parts of your assignment. In making this decision to stay out you receive a poor grade, this is due to your last minute rushing to finish.

When seeing the grade the first thought that goes in your head is “if my friends hadn’t kept me out all night this would have never happen! ” that is the wrong kind of thinking. Your friends never kept you up dancing all night you stayed because you wanted to and you need to accept responsibility.Principle number eight is communication. Communication is essential in any environment whether it be on the phone, thru email, in person or even without words.

The way you communicate with others plays a very big role in your relationships. Communicate constantly with the people involved in your life. Check in with you teacher if you don’t understand the course work. Speak with a boss or co-worker if you are having issues at work or even a question and are looking for a resolution. The ninth principle has to do with thought, try to think outside the box.

Good problem solving skills are essential. You can use known problem solving skills like SWOT, Pros and Cons list, Word bubbles and Graphs. While your problem solving thou don’t forget no idea is a bad idea, use impervision and constructive thinking to perfect your thought whatever it may be you can always find a creative solution for anything. Principle number ten ties in with the ninth principle always be open to new ideas. Just as in principle number nine no idea is a bad idea; you need to open to all ideas presented by your team, coworkers and classmates.

No matter what the environment you will have some kind of variety in opinions and its important that no one is put down. It’s also important to critique the idea and not the person, show respect and be thoughtful. All these things are very important and tie in together. Not one of these principles is really more important than the other, you need to possess and practice all of the skills listed above to be a professional, dependable, reliable person anywhere.

You have to communicate in the work place and there will always be a problem to solve.Unless you isolate yourself you will always be in some form of social setting where others will expect you to commit yourself to your work, your homework, or being an essential team member. People will expect you to conduct yourself in a professional manner this means being self-aware, responsible, honest, and able to follow instruction. As a professional and an ethical person you should never steal a fellow co-workers idea or work, its wrong and it shows bad character.

Character is very important because the way you present yourself is the way others view you which is detrimental to your reputation. When working for a big company people will want to view you as someone with high ethics and morals. It’s also important in the work place to be an open-minded person; this will help your work thrive. The most essential thou are time management.

Time management makes everything you do possible as long as you have planned correctly. So remember there is no time like the present, stay productive and move forward.
