In the planning and design for ambulatory care facility involves far more depth than one can visualize. Comprehensive measures are necessary to make certain colors balance, furnishings are comfortable, and rooms provide ample enough space for both the patient and medical staff to ambulate within. More significantly, the individual who plans and designs needs to take into account the structure and various services that are offered.

Inside and outside of the structure needed to appeal to patients to help reduce their stress and anxiety.A one level floor plan for the ambulatory care facility was decided upon on the account of working knowledge about a multi-level facility from a patient's perspective. Once as a patient of multi-level ambulatory care facility, one of the elevators would tend to stop working. This compelled medical personnel to use the stairways or take patients to other areas of the facility to get access to one working elevator. Thus look longer to take care of each patient or get them out of building.

Patients had who were discharged after the procedure had to carefully walk down the steps or wait for the elevator if they were unable to take the stairs. Additionally by selecting a one level plan had the intention that all materials, equipment, and other services could be easily accessible for the medical staff. For any ambulatory care facility it is significant to understand the functional requirements necessary for appropriate operations. The design needs to address the general function and technical requirements for the facility.

Ambulatory care has evolved to provide various outpatient services such as examination, treatment, diagnostic services, laboratory, radiology and other outpatient programs. As result the design must reflect flexibility and expandability as outpatient setting continues to develop and progress. As well address the design to detailed considerations to protect the patient privacy and make the design accessible for the medical staff. (Stavins ; Osan, 2011) A few suggestions how I would conduct a floor plan differently is taking more time to collect and gather more similar one level ambulatory care floor plans for review.Secondly, reserve additional time to plan, strategize, and design precisely what components and elements will be set up in each room.

This would be to produce a more comprehensive list of all necessitates needed for an ambulatory care facility. There is a lot to be learned from designing a medical facility. What I personally learned from this whole process and designing my own floor plan is there is much detail involved. The architectural design as a whole for any medical facilities including its technology, equipment, physical environment, are all significant for the patient outcome and work performance.

Emerging research does illustrate a strong association between the design of the health facility settings and the outcome from the patients. Furthermore, there is evidence that the physical design can affect the work performance, patient recovery, reduce injury or harm to the patient and more. Thus a well design of the physical environment can improve patient safety and quality by understanding and articulating the relationship between the built environment and strategically innovative for daily operations of the facility.
