The Importance of Religion in the Life of Pl Peters The Importance of Religion In the Life of In Introduction of Life of Pl, Author Yang Marten said directly that : "This book was born as I was hungry "(Introduction,l).

Hunger Is something author refers to the emptiness In faith. The novel's protagonist Piecing, grew up In French Indochina area, Is a devout Hindus, Christians and Muslims. He believes In every religion he encountered, and devoutly treats every religion and God. He feels comfortable with all these three religions.Religion will save us"(Life of Pl, 21), as Pl said.

The story of Life of Pl not only tells us a amazing story of how he survived on a life boat with a tiger, but tells us the Importance of religion In Ply's life as well. Religions played a overwhelming role In Ply's life. In a very dramatic occasion, his three religious teachers ran Into his family. These three wise men Insisted that a man can only believes In one religion. But Pl did not consider this as a problem and accept all three religions.

When he was young, his mom told him the story of Vishnu InHauls (Elite AT Pl, 3 Although en can't quilt unreason teen meaning AT teen story, he simply admire the gods. As he grew up gradually, he began to think about God. Once he asked the Father why God let his son came to earth to bear all the suffering, Father told him that because God loves us. After a few conversations with the Father, he became a Christian. The Father told him:" You already are, Piecing,in your heart. However meets Christ in good faith is a Christian.

Here in Unarm you Peters met Christ" (Life of Pi, 41). One day, he saw Muslim prayers then he became aMuslim and vegetarian(Life of P', 42). Unable to get the meaning of live in this vast universe, Pi connects all kind of doctrines so that he can comprehend the true meaning of prayer. It takes Pi a lot of time to practice religions in his daily life. During the Journey, it's a process of practicing his faith.

Also, this process is brutal. He had to face all kinds of unexpected situation: shipwrecking, parent's' death, watching animals killing each other, survival all along with the tiger, suffering from heavy rain storms, exposure dehydration dying, etc...He tried to pray to God for help, UT God didn't show his love this time. At this time, religion is nothing but a cruel truth covered with a layer of gorgeous hypocrisy coat.

Just like the orangutan which ride the floating banana and came aboard, religion is described as vulnerable. But Pi still maintained his religious believes while on the boat through his daily prayers. To survive at sea, Pi had to fight with tiger for a fish. This is ironic, because before the trip Pi was vegetarian. Everything is created by God, animals and plants are all creatures, they are no difference.

So, eating meat or vegetables is the same. If a man still be a vegetarian on a boat which barely has food, he would die of starving. At this point, he had to eat whatever he had to survive. When the first fish came to board, he thanked God for giving him food, but he also regretted that he had to kill that fish.

He was struggling between religion and survival, but he chose both. In front of endless human desire, humans always blind faith and, at the same time, do something contrary Peters to divinity, but faith is still there. Endless desire is always unable to escape from the greedy hearts. Also, elisions played a critical role in helping him to survival. When Pi decided to give up, he met a similar drift in chance and they had a conversation. But finally the blind person became Richard Parser's food.

In fact, Pi always had his own beliefs, but when he witnessed how Richard Parker ate someone else in order not to eat him, he said:" This was the terrible cost of Richard Parker. He gave me a life, my own, but at the expense of taking one. He ripped the flesh off the man's frame and cracked his bones. The smell of blood filled my nose.

Something in me died then that has never mom back to life " (Life of P', 171). Some of his spiritual beliefs had collapsed. When Pi was nearly killed on the boat and be "born again", he met an island. In his faith, this island is Vishnu rescuer which he always seen in the Vishnu mouth of the "universe" in the vastness of the ocean. During the day, the island is Vishnu which the island's freshwater bred all creatures on the island. But during the night, the island is Shiva which produces an acid and destroys the world.

This island represents different beliefs in God.The island's animals are the followers of God, hey are very kind. Even when Richard Parker ate their companions, they showed no Tear AT teat n, Decease teen Dealer teen were sent tenure to save teen world Although the island is a wonderful place to stay, Pi chose to leave because he saw human teeth on the island which represented death. To survive, to be happy, people must put the devil locked up, Peters give yourself the placement of one pair of angel wings ? ? This is the power of faith. Using the power of faith, people can survive in any condition. Religions take a large part of Pip's life.

As a child, even though he can't quite understand the meaning of religions, God and life, Pi chose to accept multiple religions and practiced then all. In his Journal on the small life boat with his tiger Richard Parker, he suffered a lot. But he still didn't lose his faith and maintained daily prayers. Of course, faith and religions helped him a lot to survive on the water and gave his hope to live with Richard Parker. In conclusion, religions are very important to Pip's life.
