I am going to be evaluating a variety of different documents that Tesco’s would send out and how they are useful. The different documents that I am going to evaluate are: an invite letter to attend the interview, details/map to the venue, Company information, preparation for any tasks or tests, Job Description, conditions of service, company benefits, right to work legislation, Expenses claims for travel to the interview and requests for certificates and proof of qualifications.

The first document that I am going to talk about is the invite letter to attend an interview. The reason that this document is useful is because it gives the candidate the date and time of their interview. Sending this information out in a letter is probably the best way that Tesco’s could provide the information, the reason that I believe this is because the candidate can keep the letter safe to one side so that they have a reminder of when the interview is, if you phoned the candidate they could quite easily forget the date and time that you arranged, although most people do write this information down, it can be easily misplaced or if they are out somewhere they may not have the equipment to be able to write the information down.If the candidate forgets the time of the interview they would not want to phone the business up and ask for a reminder, the reason for this is because it does not look good on them and it could make Tesco’s think badly of the candidate before they have had their interview.

The other reason why sending the candidate a letter is useful is because you will open it up and read it whereas if an unknown number rang them on their phone they may not pick it up. Sending the letter out would also make the company look more formal and professional; this means that the candidate would have a good image of them. For example phoning the candidate up to ask them to attend an interview is more informal than the letter so this would give the company a better image. The next document that I am going to talk about is the details/map to the venue. In my opinion this document would normally be included in with the invite letter to attend an interview. The reason that this document is useful is because it helps the candidate to know where the venue is that they are going, for example if they do not live around the local area it may be trickier for them to find the business.

This document could also include information on parking, for example if the parking spaces that Tesco’s have for staff are limited they would advise you with places where you can park. Sending this information out to the candidate is also very good for the business, the reason for this is because it shows that they are willing and that they would like to help and support the candidate which then gives the candidate a good image of the business and its employee’s. The next document that I am going to talk about is the company’s information. In my opinion this document again would normally be included in with the invite letter to attend an interview. The business sends this out to the candidates so that they have an understanding about the business, they can then use this as a test to see if the candidate read the information that they provided.

Businesses like Tesco’s may also do this the other way round and not send out the information but still test the candidate about what they know about the business. The business would send out the information to the candidates because of the reason I said above, however another reason that they may send it out to the candidate is so that they can sell themselves to the candidate. This information is also beneficial to the candidate because it saves them doing their own research about Tesco’s. The next document that I am going to talk about is preparation for any tasks or tests. The reason that it is useful for the business to send out the information to candidates about the tests is so that it makes the candidates aware so they are not surprised when they get there.

Tesco’s could also use this as a test itself, the reason for this is because they could ask the candidates to bring certain equipment with them for the test, if the candidate turns up without the information it would tell the business that they did not read through the information properly or that they are unorganised. The next document that I am going to talk about is the job description. This document would normally be found in the job advert. This is useful for the business because the people thinking of applying to the job can read through it and see if the job is suitable to them, this would then save Tesco’s time as they know the people that they have invited to interview are interested in the job.

This is also useful for the business because during the interview they could ask questions about the job description and see what information they know and whether they have read through it properly. The next document that I am going to talk about is the conditions of service. This document is similar to the contract of employment. This document is very useful for the business because it would be a written document that the candidate would have signed or agreed to that the business could refer back to in the future if there was any issues for example if the candidate requested off Friday every week, they could refer back to this document where the person agreed to work the hours.

This document is also very important because the business also knows that the candidate is aware of the conditions that are in place which means that they are less likely to break them. The next document that I am going to talk about is the companies benefits.
