Issues concerning age discrimination have undeniable effect to the society and its people.

In fact, the problem is likely to remain if we are to consider two essential factors. First is the existence of the cycle of aging when a young person now is expected to grow old hence is also inclined to experience the condition of age discrimination. People are unable to stop this biological evolution (Gregory 260).It is the second element which human principle and practice is capable to address, if not resolve. That is, if only people will not present or be the cause of age partiality as well as oppose to be subjected with such treatment, then manifestations of age discrimination are definite to be eliminated in various conditions, aspects and settings. However, taking into consideration the increased awareness and efforts to curb problems relating to age discrimination, it is now empirically possible that such condition will eventually be worked out.

Since age discrimination has now been settled in some areas, it is just a matter of time and firm dedication that it will be totally eliminated in the society and among people. Therefore, resolving age discrimination entails the actions from people in both ways – stop inflicting and being a victim of such kind of bias.Age discrimination has several depictions. It is being portrayed in various components of the society such as politics and economy and most significantly in the place of work. However, it is worthy to note that this matter has progressed in the light of the system of American politics. Age discrimination, being a disappearing cultural bias, is best exemplified by the historical result of the recent presidential elections in the United States of America.

Such electoral feat exemplified that one’s age must not be used anymore as prejudice against the competency of a man who was destined to be the first African-American leader of the most powerful country in the world. Hence, both young and old voters overwhelmingly installed a youthful candidate named Barack Obama as their new President instead of the much older veteran and seasoned statesman who grew gray hairs working in the American Senate.Times have indeed changed the mind-frames of people. Where before the American electorate opted to vote for older candidates to become President, the last electoral exercise saw them going for a young talent who exudes confidence and hope for their badly and economically devastated super power country.

For the first time in their history,  Americans also allowed a young leader to be their White House tenant for next four years.Foremost the several venues, it is in the workplace that age prejudices are relevantly happening. In particular, age discrimination in organizational setting has undisputedly created significant harmful implications to the victim and the organization in general. Just in the case, however, of the contemporary political system, the American workplace now imparts the need to deviate from age discrimination. This is because such damaging condition is really workable and that there are many things to be looked forward to in the future as regard the situation of members of the older workforce. In doing so, there is a need for the organization and older employees to be vigilant and aggressive in fighting age discrimination in the work set-up (Gregory 261).

According to Gregory, the struggle against age discrimination requires the effective and firm application of existing or established measures aimed at solving problems resulting from said situation (261). On the same token, it is essential for those who are in the older labor force to oppose the apparent forms of age discrimination. Gregory emphasized that the effectiveness of laws, which were created to address age discrimination-related concerns, depends on the effort of the organization to avoid its occurrence. Most importantly, it is the older employees themselves who have more the authority to call the shots. This is because if older but competent employees assert their respective worth and performance over younger colleagues, they will not be subjected to age discrimination (Gregory 261).

In short, circumstances of the modern world made it into one big marketplace which equally works to the advantage of both young and old employees. While before one has to reach old age before one emerges as rich and famous, today, one no longer has to get old first in order to acquire such powers.
