Abigail Roach "Sticks are extensions of the arms" Arians is the Philippines' national martial art and sport, after President Gloria MacDougal-Arroyo signed the Republic Act.

No. 9850 in 2009. Arians along with Carries and Kali are terms for the traditional martial arts of the Philippines that emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks and various improvised weapons. It also includes hand-to-hand combat and weapon disarming techniques. Modern Arians is the system of Filipino martial arts founded by the late Remy Presses as a self-defense system. The primary weapon is the rattan or among stick called a Boston.

Many styles of martial arts are practiced for self- defense or include self-defense techniques. Some styles train primarily for self- defense, while other martial or combat sports can be effectively applied for self- defense. While all martial arts training can be argued to have some self-defense applications, self-defense courses are marketed explicitly as being oriented towards effectiveness and optimized towards situations as they occur in the real world. Some of the heroes of the Philippine revolution were also practitioners of Arians namely Andrea Boniface, the spouses Diego and Gabriele Sailing, and the young General Gregory Del Pillar.

The National Hero Jose Racial was also reported to have engaged in the said martial art. Why do we need PEE? Physical education is needed to help keep us healthy. Physical Education is important because it teaches us how to lead and maintain healthy lifestyles. It is an essential art of one's development.

JUST offers many units of physical education courses that include Arians.I have never heard of Arians before. It sounded so integrated with the Filipino culture. The first class we had with Sir Lax, Arians definitely made a good first impression. It was taught to us that Arians is a form of martial arts and that it is used as a self-defense mechanism as a close-combat affair. The martial art is very unique to the Philippines as it developed and evolved from our history.

One of the first lessons we had was the Sawmill the intricate movements of two bastions resembling he weaving of a Sawmill. Each move had to be delivered with ease, determination and accuracy.Though Arians may sound like fun, it is certainly hard to master. Skills like empathy, responsibility, and self-discipline are not innate, they need to be taught. As students progress in their studies of the martial arts they learn some very valuable life lessons.

Martial arts are more than a way to attack someone or defend yourself, they teach you about the consequences of your actions. Not only do the students learn self-defense, develop better coordination and focus, and get into utter physical condition, they also learn about integrity and the value of hard work. En we talk tout teaching martial arts values we are retiling to ten traditional values of respect, honor, integrity, loyalty and the development of other personal attributes such as humility, maturity, a disciplined character and inner peace. These are the elements that combine to form a solid foundation from which to build the character of a successful student and shape their view of the world around them.

People who participate in a martial arts training program also tend to demonstrate he characteristics of good citizenship and appropriate Judgment in confrontational situations. The value of martial arts goes beyond this group learning, however, teaching individual values and life skills. Sir Lax most importantly taught us the value of respect. Disarming Did you know that it is hard to apply or to disarm an opponent in a true battle or in any competition. Only around 5%-10% do a successful disarming takes place.

It is better to strike or attack an opponent 85%-90% of the time. And about 50%-75% success in blocking and counter attacks on our opponent. There are disarming sequences that are so simple but effective in fighting.Easy to watch but risky to apply in real combat or competition.

In all disarming techniques, there are counter attacks to spoil or to out-maneuver those who wanted to disarm one's Boston and that is the truth, so why risk your life. Another point, every master of Arians knows that once we lose our Boston in a battle we lose % of our life and h remains to survive. That is why we must protect ourselves and our weapon at all cost. "Weapons are extension of your hand" Arians is an art of offense and defense, weapons are Just an extension of the hands and skills of an Arians layer.

Arians has a set of hand patterns and body movements that the weapons follow through the hands of a trained Arians player. There are many reasons why students take an interest in this style of martial arts. A way in which practicing Arians is that it develops mental agility. When you have to react to sticks coming at you at around 50 MPH at times, you mind has to be able to react quickly. Even if you are practicing a drill, your mind has to work in conjunction with your body to make sure you block at the right time, you stop your stick before hitting your partner, etc.It forces your mind to stay sharp in other drills by coming up with new counters to counters.
